Nord Arin Launches Three Design Competitions for Students at The Faculty of Visual Arts and Design Iași

Nord Arin has recently announced the launch of three design competitions for students of the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design from Iași, in partnership with "George Enescu" National University of Arts Iași. The competitions are open to students from all specializations and years of study and will focus on product design, furniture decorations, and the integration of sustainable materials in wooden furniture. The submission period runs from March 1 to April 30, 2023. Nord Arin will award nine prizes totaling 6,000 lei based on innovation, creativity, aesthetics, functionality, and compliance with quality and safety standards.

We are proud to add a new renowned university to our list of academic partnerships and we are confident that we will develop impactful projects together with the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design Iași. I want to thank the rector of UNAGE Iași, prof. univ. dr. Aurelian Bălăiță, the dean of FAVD conf. univ. dr. Adrian Stoleriu and the project coordinators prof. dr. Silviu Buraga and lecturer assoc. phd. Valentin Bădărău for their openness and involvement, as shortly after signing the partnership we already launched a first important project for students, that will be followed by research projects, study visits and internships at the Nord Arin factory. Personally, I encourage all students to participate in these competitions, as they will benefit from applied learning opportunities and can gain visibility in the Romanian and international design landscape, important assets for any young artist.
— Viorel Crețu, Nord Arin Managing Director

The three competitions aim to transfer the artistic vision and creative solutions from the visual arts field to furniture design and production. It also aims to develop new skills among students through close interaction with the business environment and the dynamic furniture manufacturing industry.

By participating in these competitions, students can apply their learned knowledge and skills to real projects, that can be potentially included in Nord Arin's permanent portfolio. The first prize winners of each competition can collaborate with the company's specialists on the development of their submitted furniture project.

The three competitions initiated by Nord Arin in partnership with the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design from “George Enescu” National University of Arts in Iași represent a relevant example of good practices established between the private business environment and an important institution of artistic higher education from Romania. This type of project effectively contributes to artistic, sustainable and innovative research processes, to high quality standards, in full agreement with the needs of the labor market, in the field of furniture production in the Northeast region of Romania.
— conf. univ. dr. Adrian Stoleriu, dean of the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design, UNAGE Iași

Nord Arin's partnership with UNAGE Iași provides opportunities for student internships, support for bachelor's or dissertation theses, and promotion of the faculty's projects at international events. FAVD graduates interested in furniture design can also apply for jobs or collaborate with the company on specific projects, in areas such as product design, graphic design or 3D modeling.

The winners of the three contests will be announced on Nord Arin's blog and FAVD Facebook page no later than May 15, 2023.
